January 1st until 10th to finish on the anniversary of Hal Finney's famous "Running Bitcoin" tweet.
Challenge
Honor legendary cypher punk, Hal Finney.
Join the “Running Bitcoin Challenge” January 1-10 to raise funds for the Golden West Chapter of the ALS Association in honor of legendary cypher punk, Hal Finney.
Hal was one of the first supporters of bitcoin when Nakamoto floated it on a cryptography mailing list. On January 10, 2009 he famously tweeted: “Running bitcoin”. Two days later he received the first bitcoin transaction for 10 BTC from Satoshi in block 170.
On August 5, 2009, Hal was diagnosed with ALS. He lived valiantly with ALS for 5 more years, and passed away in August, 2014.
Raise funds, earn rare Hal collectibles, and start '22 off right! As Hal would do, test your strength, push your limits, and fight ALS with us!
Hal not only had a passion for Bitcoin, but also for running half marathons. Here's the challenge:
Raise $100 and earn a Running Bitcoin tweet sticker
Raise $300 and earn 3 stickers including a limited edition (100) sticker with a never before seen picture of Hal Finney.
Raise $300 & log 13.1 miles (21km) between January 1-10 and you'll earn all 3 stickers + a limited edition running gaiter.
Raise $500 and you'll earn all of the above PLUS the opportunity of a one-on-one video/audio call with a qualified Athletics Coach from Bitcoin Runners who will answer your questions and develop a personalized training plan, so that you can improve your running fitness and enjoyment of the sport!
All donors will be entered into a drawing to win a $50 Amazon gift card and some Challenge ALS swag! Highest donor between January 1 - January 10 will receive an artist proof of Cryptograffiti's Running Bitcoin artwork!
Incentives can be earned whether you opt to register or not. To redeem your incentives, proof of donation and mileage completed will need to be sent to run@alsagoldenwest.org.
